Hi! I’m Shawn. The founder, president/CEO, and board member of FETCH Animal Rescue. I currently reside in California City, California in Kern County with my 2 dogs and cat.

Many have asked me what my motivation to create an animal rescue was. My simple answer to that, is my passion. I grew up mostly having and being around cats and dogs. This passion manifested mostly a few years ago when I would bring dog treats to my local animal shelter multiple times per week for a bit, spending time around the dogs and cats. In addition, donating as much as I could when I could. It affected me seeing the cats and dogs there and just the thought of the emotional toll it could have on them was heart wrenching. Praying for each of them for their second chance. Their happy ending. Then November 4, 2021, came and I stumbled across a random Facebook post about a SOS for a dog that was at the Moreno Valley Animal Shelter pending euthanasia due to space if not adopted quickly. He resembled my current dog and I saw a video of him playing in the yard. Something inside of me told me that I needed to save him. I called them the next morning and told them I would be there the following day. The day came and I drove the 2 1/2 hours to the Moreno Valley Animal Shelter. The moment I met Manny in a room, this cute Pitbull mix walked up to me calmly and laid his head in my lap. I knew I was meant to be his person. Seeing he was already neutered, I adopted him immediately, and together we drove back home. As I watch him grow even today, and still seeing and hearing about dogs and cats still being euthanized in the masses for space in the region, I knew I wanted to make a large difference in helping reduce that number. Each cat and dog euthanized makes me more motivated to help save as many as possible as fast as possible by getting them their second chance and forever home, while also educating people as to the benefits to their own lives by having a dog or cat.
